Autumn is a perfect time for grounding. To find more of a slow pace after summer, and before the holiday craziness begins.

I hope you're enjoying the fall season as much as I am. October and November in Rome have become my most favorite months here. It's sunny and mild out, and it's been so beautiful to watch the leaves change color.

Growing up in Southern California I never experienced real seasons, and even though it doesn't get very cold here, there's still more of a crispness in the air!

Autumn is a perfect time for grounding. To find more of a slow pace after summer, and before the holiday craziness begins.

It's also an amazing time to reset goals, clean out your home or closet, and create habits and routine that feel nourishing as winter slowly arrives.

Some of my favorite wellness habits for fall are...

  • My morning hot water with lemon, ginger and cayenne to cleanse, hydrate and wake up in a nurturing way.
  • Spending some time in the morning journaling my intentions for the day, and daily gratitudes. This is especially grounding as we get into the holiday season.
  • A nightly tea ritual. Getting cozy in a blanket with an herbal tea that calms you is a wonderful way to release any stress from the day and to ease you into sleep.
  • Stay active. Make movement a priority, whether it's yoga, Pilates, a run outside or a long walk.
  • Get into nature and enjoy the fall sunshine. With shorter days, it's important to still get outside in the sun for some healthy Vitamin D, which is also great for your immune system! The mountains, the beach, a walk along a river, or relaxing in a park are the perfect setting to unwind and recenter.

It's important to be present, but to also set intentions that align with your goals. Slowing down during the fall season allows us to turn inward, check in with ourselves, and notice what we may need to adjust as we move into the end of the year.

Journal, meditate, and honor your emotional well-being. Surround yourself with people and activities that bring you joy, and remember that it's truly what life is about.
